Princeton shocked everyone by defeating No. 2 Arizona in the second round despite trailing for the majority of the game. This was the third consecutive year a No. 15 seed made it this far.

The seasoned Bruins had a trouble-free first round. Before UNC Asheville scored, UCLA was up 14-0, and the Bruins were never in danger.
No. 15 UNC Asheville defeated No. 2 UCLA 86-53.
For UCLA, which shot 54% from the field, five players scored in double figures. The Bruins also held a 24-9 advantage in assists and outrebounded the Bulldogs 40-25.

Probably the most impressive figure was UCLA's 11 steals, with Jaime Jaquez Jr. leading the way with five, and one that no doubt pleased defensively-minded coach Mick Cronin.
Despite scoring their sixth-fewest points of the season, the Volunteers were still able to prevail. This is primarily due to Louisiana scoring 55 points, which was a season low.
